Haiti Team Updates
06/10/11
(a text from Mike Miller)
Have had power the past two days. Much better today, clear and hot.
06/10/11
It's 5:30 am here on Friday morning and our pastor, Mike Miller, just killed a tarantula. The peddlers are setting out their goods. Breakfast soon, then a full day of work.
We've had lots of rain and not much internet access. Russell fixed the guest house's electrical system and tied in a generator for light-duty tasks, fans and lights.
There are about five peddlers outside with their tarps and wood-/metalworks. They came yesterday and started setting up at 5am this morning. Close to 6am and they still are organizing. 7am is when they will be selling.
Mike wanted to include that we went yesterday on a bus tour to the ESMI church plants with Pastor Louis. We were in a Voodoo-possessed location and we happened upon a crazy demon-possessed man who was naked and muttering curses.
We thank you all for your prayers, by God's grace we haven't been sick or injured. We've slept decently well aside from avoiding the mosquito bites and not having showers to look forward to the next day because of the lack of electricity during the night to pump more water into the tanks on the roof of the guest house.

Wednesday went pretty well here in Carrefour at the guest house.
We are making great progress on the construction projects and there are always other things that come up like fixing leaking sink drains/pipes and getting gas-powered generators working again and tracking down why Pastor MeMe's bathroom wasn't getting any water to it (a valve had been turned off up on the roof).
It has been raining for almost every night down here and being the rainy season, it's been overcast which keeps the
temperature down but the humidity is extreme! We are drinking so much water to stay hydrated because the smallest things you do cause you to sweat.
Pastor MeMe told us that the group of kids that came over Sunday that we played with will be coming by Friday to do a skit/presentation that they wanted to do for us so we are looking forward to that.
Thank you for all your prayers and support--we couldn't be here without them!

Hello again from the Carrefour team!
This Sunday we started with worship at one of Pastor MeMe's friend's churches outside of Carrefour and once again enjoyed worship even though we didn't understand much of the language although a couple of the song tunes were familiar so singing along was special.
In the afternoon we were able to play soccer, frisbee and wiffle ball with some of the neighborhood children that come by the guest house weekly to hear Pastor MeMe give a short devotional so that was fun interacting with the kids which was unexpected.
Tomorrow we start with the construction needs in the guest house. We always appreciate your prayers for safety and much work to be accomplished.
Thank you all again for your continued support.
Jeff Dworek.

Hey, its Sunday evening and we had a great day in two different churches. Dr Madsen and I preached and Bryce and Bethany shared their testimony. David took many pictures and sent them to Greg for the website. Internet and power are sporadic. Power went down at 4 am and came back on today at 2:30. Everyone is well. We will try to send an update each day. Have a good week!
Serving in His Grace,
Mike Miller

Thank you to all our supporters again!! Jeff, Matt, Joey & Jack arrived safely in Carrefour with all of the luggage and they even were able to pick up the last two pieces of luggage that did not arrive for the team in Les Cayes!! So the entire team has all of the luggage--thank you for your prayers!!
As I write this, the Cayes team is still traveling in the bus even though they arrived 3 hours earlier than we did into Port au Prince. It is raining and it is very slow going on the roads to get there. Please pray for safety and comfort of the team during this VERY long bus ride!
Thank you again for praying and supporting us!
Destination: Les Cayes & Carrefour, Haiti
June 4-11
God has brought together a uniquely gifted team. We have several different focuses on this trip. Russell, a professional electrician and Jeff Stout will be working on fixing the electricity at the guest house at the Cambry orphanage outside of Les Cayes. Our medical team, Dr. Madsen and Bethany, will be serving the Lord in the clinic by seeing patients from the community. Olga, our occupational therapist, will also be serving the community. Her area of expertise is much needed after the devastating injuries and amputations that have occurred as a result of the earthquake. She will also be working with our “kids” team to incorporate therapy in our games. Jeff Dworek, Matt, Jack and Joey will be staying just outside Port au Prince working with a local Pastor in Carrefour to help rebuild the guest house so that they can better serve teams that come to help rebuild that demolished city. The rest of us will be painting a beautiful mural at the orphanage for ½ the day, then leading a Vacation Bible School in the afternoons for the 180 orphans that live at Cambry. We will have a skit, Bible lesson time, singing (yes, some in Creole), games and craft time. Our lessons will center around 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a “ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

If you would like to be a part of the Haiti Mission Team please read the needs and ministry areas are listed below.
Medical -
There
always
is
a
need
for
medical
care
for
the
people
in
Haiti. Presently
we
have
several
members working
on
different
projects
to
assist
with
medical
needs. Some
of
our
team
members
are
working
with
Covenant
Day
preparing
cloth
bandages. Others
are
working
through
the
medical
field
to
try
and
find
resources
for
pink
eye
medication
for
the
orphans
at
Cambry. They
are
also
looking
at
what
it
will
take
to
start
immunizations
for
the
orphans
at
the
orphanage in
Cambry.
Adoption
Ministry - Many
have
been
praying
alongside
us
as
we
persevere
in
the
adoption
process
to
bring
Atemise
home. While
we
waited
the
Lord
has
convicted
us
to
use
our
knowledge
and
assist
others
as
they
are
led
to
consider
adoption of
the
other
orphans
living
in
the
ESMI
orphanages. The
board
of
ESMI has
approved
the
ministry
and
now
we
need
those
with
a
heart for
these
orphans to
come
along
side
us
and
help
us
kick
this
ministry
off. We
need
those
that
have
communication
skills,
those
that
understand
financial
lingo,
filing
reports,
raising
funds
for
the
ministry,
to
those that
can
help
document
and
put
together
information
packets
for
future
adopting
families,
our
list
goes
on
and
on. Those
that
know
the
French
language
and
are
willing
to
communicate
or
translate
from
time
to
time
will
be
needed
as
well.
Short
Term
Mission
Trip - Our
ministry
will
be
working
with
the
orphans,
medical
clinic, maybe
ESL
classes and
possibly
some
light
construction
like putting playgrounds
together. Remember
that
music
and
sports
is
always
a
winner
for
ministry. Those
that
have
been
there
know
what
a
load
of
work
it
takes
to
prepare
for
one
of
these
trips
so
your
help
and
suggestions
in
any
of
this
ministry
is welcomed.
We
will
also
like
to
send
a
team
at
least
one
other
time
to
help
kick
off
the
medical
immunizations
of
the
orphans
and
working
with
the
administrator
on
the
adoption ministry. The
dates
for
this
trip
will
be
flexible,
depending
upon
the
schedules
of
medical
professionals.
So,
we
are
sure
that there
are
more
gifts
that
can
be
used
the
question
remains, is
God
leading
you to
use
your time,
talents
and
treasure? We
are
putting
an
announcement
in
the
Courier
to
inform
others
that
may
be
interested. Feel
free
to
contact
others
that
would
desire
to
serve
in
this
matter.
